Avenues of Opportunity
For over a century, the settlement houses have been an integral part of the Rochester community. When we were founded, we addressed the needs of immigrants for employment, housing, language skills, education and family support. The settlement houses have evolved to serve the populations of their neighborhoods. We perform on-the-ground anti-poverty work, uplifting the lives of people from cradle to grave.
Baden Street Settlement, Charles Settlement House and Community Place joined forces to create the Settlement Houses of Rochester Foundation. The fundraising arm of the settlement houses will strengthen our work and ensure we can serve Rochester for generations to come. We provide what we call "avenues of opportunity" for youth, families and seniors right in the neighborhoods where they live, work, worship and play.
The settlement houses serve 20,000 individuals, employ 230 people and have a combined budget of $11 million.
